From the Doctor: Dr. Harrison is an internationally recognized and extensively published expert in the areas of head and neck cancer, sarcomas and intraoperative brachytherapy. He has been a leader in the development of multidisciplinary management strategies which prioritize cancer cure with organ and function preservation.

He is Co-Editor of the textbook "Head and Neck Cancer: A Multidisciplinary Approach", published by Lippincott-Raven in October 1998; and "Intraoperative Irradiation: Techniques and Results", published by Humana Press in 1999. Before joining Mount Sinai Beth Israel in 1997, Dr. Harrison was Chief of the Brachytherapy Service and Leader of the Head and Neck Cancer Disease Management Team at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

He is active in a variety of medical committees and professional organizations including the American Board of Radiology, the American Brachytherapy Society and the Society of Head and Neck Surgeons. He is a past-president of the American Brachytherapy Society and is currently the vice chairman of the Refresher Course Program for the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology. He is the recent recipient of the Boyer Young Investigator Award for Biomedical Research.

Dr. Harrison is frequently named to the list of top doctors, and most recently appeared in the Castle Connolly 2011 edition of “Top Doctors: New York Metro Area,” “America’s Top Doctors” and “America’s Top Doctors for Cancer.”
